Apprenticeship: Cutting machine operator
Our apprenticeship at a glance
Cutting machine operators for lathe systems build parts for machines, devices and plants by turning and drilling them at conventional or computer-controlled machine tools. They plan the necessary production processes, choose the right tools and create programs for computer-controlled machines. Furthermore, they install lathes including tools and equipment, control the production process and ensure the quality of the parts. In addition they maintain and take care of the machines. Usually they work in industrial companies directly at machines and in factories.

- Job specific basic education in the metal sector
- Structure of the training enterprise
- Labour law, collective bargaining law and occupational safety
- Work safety, environmental protections and efficient energy use
- Understanding, using and creating of technical documents
- Differentiating, assigning and handling of different materials
- Scheduling and operating of workflows and motion sequences as well as controlling and interpreting of the results
- Maintenance of our equipment as well as controlling and marking them
- Adjusting and cutting of tools and parts

- Installing of lathes, tools and advices
- Operating and controlling of lathes
Requirements
At least secondary school graduation
Minimum requirement: knowledge of German (level B1)
Training period
3,5 years
