The basic requirements to qualify for the Best Managed Companies Award are a minimum annual turnover of 150 million euros and the company's headquarters in Germany. In addition, the companies must be medium-sized or family-owned and have demonstrated successful economic development in recent years. The companies are assessed in four categories: strategy, productivity and innovation, culture and commitment as well as governance and finance. Based on the application documents and the evaluations of the personal interviews, the Best Managed Companies Award expert panel defined the shortlist - the award winners were then selected by a jury consisting of renowned representatives from business, science and the media.
