The news that Ziegler Holding has filed for insolvency puts the 1. EV Weiden in an existentially threatening situation. The situation is particularly dramatic for the junior section of the ice sports club.
BHS Corrugated Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH will make a generous financial contribution to the club's youth department in order to continue to provide a sporting home for the approximately 200 children and young people who train daily at 1. EV Weiden and live and love the club.
The leading solution provider in the corrugated board industry is thus strengthening its commitment to Weiden as an ice hockey location. Since 2022, BHS Corrugated has been the main sponsor of the Blue Devils Weiden, the professional division of 1. EV Weiden, which has been active in DEL2, the second highest division in Germany, since this season.
On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Franz Vodermeier as Managing Director of Blue-Devils-Spielbetriebs-GmbH and Thomas Siller as Chairman of 1. EV Weiden visited the headquarters of BHS Corrugated in Weiherhammer to seal the cooperation between two figureheads of the northern Upper Palatinate.
Thomas Siller, 1st Chairman of the 1. EV Weiden about the support of BHS Corrugated: “The 1. EV Weiden not only stands for sporting success, but also for an important contribution to the positive socialization of many children and young people. In this existentially threatening situation, BHS Corrugated has helped us with its decisive support to safeguard the club and secure our future. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks for this - also on behalf of my colleagues on the Board, the numerous volunteers and our children and young people.”
Dr. Thomas List, Group Chief Financial Officer at BHS World, commented on the commitment to the youth section of 1. EV Weiden as follows:

These are all reasons why BHS Corrugated will support the young talent of the 1. EV Weiden, not only to help them in the short term, but also to set them up strongly for the future.”
