Splicer SP-S - our basic splicer with reliable advantages of the splicer family of BHS Corrugated

24.11.2021

In addition to the established splicer models SP-M and SP-L, the SP-S offers an entry-level state-of-the-art splicer for splice speeds up to 350 m/min.

At the end of 2021, the SP-X II - which has been successfully sold worldwide since 2004 with over 1.100 units - will be replaced by the SP-S, a new generation splicer.

What advantages does the SP-S offer compared to the previous series of SP-X II?

Highest safety standards: Like all machines in the Splicer family from BHS Corrugated, the SP-S ensures increased operator safety - even beyond the common standards. Tested safety approved with GS Label. Due to dual-channel TIA safety control together with defined safety zones for storage carriages as well as clamping bars and gluing carriages, we can meet the highest safety standards. The pneumatic unit also has a Zero-Energy shutdown.

Improved web tension: TripleControl ensures perfect paper contact with preheaters and preconditioners and thus optimising heat transfer including during the splicing process. This is achieved by a well-matched interaction between the reel stand brake, the storage carriage and the Reel Start Device (RSD), the so-called TripleControl.

Higher line pressure during splicing: the PowerBond enables a six times higher contact pressure between press roller and gluing roller. This is possible due to the use of a steel gluing roller.

Automated preparation process: LaunchControl – as an optional feature - eliminates operator error and ensures a reliable splice. The splicing tape applied by the operator is automatically positioned correctly by the splicer in conjunction with a BHS reel stand incl. core ejector. The new web gets tightened evenly across the working width.

Manual preparation, as known from the SP-X II, is also available for splicer installations in non-BHS lines.

Assisted paper threading: Thread-upAid – another optional feature - conveys the paper by the RSD with light web tension applied by the operator. Thus, helps the operator to insert the paper into the downstream machine more easily. Interesting for light papers - avoids paper breaks during threading.
