The quality and performance of a corrugating roll starts with the base material and is perfected by the surface coating. BHS Corrugated relies on a specially developed steel composition that retains its hardness and stability even at high temperatures. The base material is supplemented by innovative coatings such as tungsten carbide and Super Micro Chrome, which ensure maximum wear resistance and optimum running properties.
Base material
The performance of a corrugating roll starts with the base material. This is why we rely on a specially developed steel composition that is exclusively available from BHS Corrugated. Our special steel retains its hardness even in hot applications, which is directly reflected in longer availability, consistent corrugated board quality and greater cost-effectiveness.

- Steel, developed for the requirements of BHS Corrugated
- Only available from BHS Corrugated
- Commercial steel / other steel is not suitable for these temperatures

- Up to 2-3 regrinds possible
- No post-hardening
- The hardness remains at the highest level over the entire service life
Surface coating
In order to meet the requirements of corrugated board production, BHS Corrugated has developed a special tungsten carbide coating. This complex coating process enables us to achieve outstanding quality with a high degree of hardness, excellent wear resistance, extremely good adhesion of the coating to the base material and low roughness. The tungsten carbide coating has a constant caliber height over the running time and working width. In addition, the homogeneous distribution of the carbides ensures extremely high density and hardness.
As an alternative to the tungsten carbide coating, we offer the Super Micro Chrome coating. This 100 µm thick coating has good running properties thanks to its special microstructure.
With our WLF tungsten lapping finishing process, we achieve a perfect surface coating of < 0.2 µ Ra for optimum flood formation of all common medium papers.
