BHS Corrugated receives official seal of approval for research and development

22.12.2023

In 2022, the research and development expenses of BHS Corrugated Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH amounted to EUR 17.7 million, which corresponds to an R&D ratio of 3.5% of sales.

Since January 1, 2020, there has been a law that allows companies to claim tax benefits for research expenditure in the form of a so-called "research allowance". In order to receive a research allowance for an R&D project, certain criteria must be met.

In 2022, BHS Corrugated submitted its first application for a research allowance to the "Bescheinigungsstelle für Forschungszulage" (BSFZ) with the support of the Lars and Christian Engel (LUCE) Trust, which is responsible for research support at C4TRENDS.

Five of the projects submitted by BHS Corrugated received official confirmation that they are research and development projects. BHS Corrugated is now entitled to apply to the tax office for tax relief amounting to 25% of the costs for personnel expenses and 15% of the costs for external R&D services.

In this context, the company was also awarded the so-called "BSFZ seal" - a seal that officially confirms BHS Corrugated's outstanding innovation expertise.
