Weiherhammer / Überlingen, June 24, 2022 // Honored at the German SME Summit: Ranga Yogeshwar pays tribute to BHS Corrugated Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH from Weiherhammer on the occasion of its success in the TOP 100 innovation competition. The awards ceremony at the Summit took place on Friday evening, June 24, in Frankfurt am Main for all SMEs that were awarded the TOP 100 award at the beginning of the year. The science journalist is accompanying the innovation competition, which is being held for the 29th time, as a mentor. In the scientific selection process, BHS Corrugated was particularly convincing in size class C (more than 200 employees) in the category "Innovative processes and organization". This is the second time the company has been among the top innovators.
BHS Corrugated is a global supplier of machinery, services, and digital solutions for the corrugated board industry. "Our goal is not only to make our machines better and better, but also to make our customers' factories more productive and support them in setting new standards in terms of competitiveness and performance," explains Managing Director Christian Engel. To this end, the company develops innovative products and services and relies on digital solutions. With success: when Christian and Lars Engel took over the management in the 1990s, the company was still in 10th place worldwide; today, it is one of the top suppliers of equipment and solutions for the corrugated board industry.
The two managing directors always keep a close eye on the megatrends of the future. A new guideline in their innovation management is rooted in climate neutrality. "Our focus for the coming years revolves, among other things, around the keyword ESG (abbreviation for Environmental, Social, Governance) and thus also climate protection. We want to significantly reduce our carbon footprint. We also support our customers in achieving this goal by constantly improving our corrugators and optimizing our logistics processes," explains Managing Director Lars Engel. With their innovative approaches, the managing directors of BHS Corrugated have once again made it into the ranks of the top innovators.
TOP 100: The competition
Since 1993, “Compamedia” has awarded medium-sized companies with the “TOP 100” award for particularly great innovation strength and outstanding success. Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke became the scientific director of the competition in 2002. He is founder and managing director of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Economic University Vienna. With 25 research awards and more than 200 publications, he is one of the worldwide leading researchers for innovation. The science journalist Ranga Yogeshwar is mentor of “TOP 100”. Partners of the project are the Fraunhofer Society for the Promotion of Applied Research and the company association “BVMW” (network for German medium-sized companies). The magazines “Manager” and “Impulse” are supporting the competition as media partners.
