Flawless bonding, drying and transport of the lengths of corrugated board: All these requirements are met by the Double Facer from BHS Corrugated – from the micro-flute to the heavy triple corrugated board. Especially in markets with a high proportion of double flutes, the corrugators’ productivity depends considerably on the performance of the Double Facer. Since this generally limits the corrugator’s speed, BHS Corrugated has made the acceleration of its functions a priority in its development, thus setting the foundation for achieving maximum speeds in the double flute and even heavier triple corrugated varieties.
Platerol loading system
The Platerol loading system combines the advantages of rolls and pressure shoes for highly efficient heat transfers and optimal web connections. The customized features ensure consistently good bonding: Here the line pressure and surface pressure are ideally combined. This makes it possible to avoid caliber losses even with low working widths (and thus the corresponding rejects even in case of fast quality changes). The system is fully automated and equipped with a number of specific speed and safety features. It can be managed via the control console as well as directly from the control station.
The Machine Control Center (MCC) forms the interface between the operator and the machine. The MCC monitors the system and its integrated features, such as an operating hours counter and maintenance system, also enable it to perform complex error diagnostics. All information about the current state of the machine is compiled and processed here and represented structurally. The operator can get the information with the corresponding speed and clarity. The MCC also offers the option to test, modify and save settings.
The special belt excels with even more enhanced features: higher wear resistance and high drying performance along with the assurance of optimal flatness of the corrugated board. A cleaning program is firmly integrated.
The high, consistent surface pressure of the pressure shoes facilitates excellent heat transfer between the hotplates and corrugated board. This makes the effectiveness of the heat sections significantly better. An even load across the working width prevents the produced corrugated board from being pressed together.
The hotplate is mounted on a stable base. This makes it possible to ensure that the hotplates are in a flat position in all operating states. The heat is transmitted exclusively through this plate, enabling the fastest possible reactions during production changes. The result: much less production waste!
Thanks to the large front doors and height-adjustable loading system, the hotplates can be cleaned easily.
In the Double Facers, the different paper webs are merged in the Wet End. The development of the patented DualBoost as an optional component of the Double Facer adds a specially developed, multifunctional heating module to the process of merging the webs.
At this process stage, more heat and moisture lead to a much more effective heat transfer, which increases the production speed for double flutes.
The Double Facer of BHS Corrugated fulfills norms EN 1010-1 and EN 1010-5, industry standard of the European CE-machine guideline
